Founded in 1900, we’ve been at the heart of Stockport’s cultural life for over 125 years. From our early days of Gilbert & Sullivan through the golden age of musical theatre and more modern shows, we produce high quality amateur shows at the Stockport Plaza.

From the composing genius of ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and the timeless lyrics of Sir Tim Rice, comes a story of human passion played out on a global scale.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Cold War, two chess champions battle for the ultimate prize: the World Championship title. However, the real game is fought off the board, as a woman, caught between them, becomes the queen in a high-stakes triangle of love, betrayal and political manipulation.
Featuring an iconic, powerhouse score including the chart-topping hits ‘I Know Him So Well’ and ‘One Night in Bangkok’, this is a musical phenomenon you just can’t miss.
