January 2020

GUYS AND DOLLS; Congratulations to everyone involved in an excellent show. We had a wonderful adjudication from GMDF (Greater Manchester Drama Federation) praising all aspects of the show – cost,orchestra,sound and the use of the screens etc.

Whilst we have not received a review from NODA District 1 we did receive ten nominations. I am delighted Gary Jones-McCaw won the award for “Best Leading Man in a Musical”

TOP HAT: Our production team for the show will be;
Claire Sweeney – Musical |Director
Sebastian (Seb) Lassandro – Director
Georgie Smales – Choreographer

Seb may be known to some of you as he has appeared in shows with Stockport,Ashton and Dukinfield where he played MoonFace Martin in their recent production of “Anything Goes”.

He has also directed for a number of Societies – currently for the Carrver Theatre in Marple and is appearing in a play at Guide Bridge Theatre. Roger Browne, our Society President, will assist him with some of the technical aspects of the show.

NOTES FROM OUR TREASURER:
Once again I have prepared the accounts for the year ended 31st December and am pleased to report that we are still in good financial condition and able to continue performing for a good few years to come, although we must not be complacent and we will continue to check that we pay only fair value for those services which we require without compromising on show quality. You can all help by selling as many tickets as possible to family and friends, including work colleagues. Overall costs only ever seem to go up so as much income as possible is always needed. Finally, may I thank those volunteers who helped the front of house team by selling programmes and raffle tickets last year – I am always looking out for additional helpers so if you can spare an evening or two, please let us know .

Stockport Operatic is always looking for some more help with its social media. We would like to hear from anyone who is,or would like to be involved, with the Society and who would be happy to post on our social media platforms to help promote our next show.This wouldn’t be a huge time commitment but the more people who are happy to contribute the better.

If you enjoy being active on social media and think you could help us please contact Claire on 07967110017 or email clairekeegand@gmail.com

Should you have any queries regarding the Society or the show please contact the Chairman Mrs Pat Marney – 0161 427 7121 / 07770 772310 or e-mail her at patbrimarn@aol.com
